Wellspring Saigon International Bilingual School System
Primary, Secondary, and High School · Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City

Wellspring Saigon is one of the most reputable international bilingual schools in Ho Chi Minh City, part of the Wellspring education system – established in 2009 in Hanoi and expanded to Saigon starting in the 2014–2015 school year. Located at 92 Nguyen Huu Canh Street, Binh Thanh District, the school sits on a campus of over 1.6 hectares, complete with dedicated zones for academics, sports, arts, and experiential learning.
What distinguishes Wellspring is its integrated bilingual teaching model – combining Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training standard curriculum with U.S. education standards (CCSS and NGSS). The teaching staff includes both Vietnamese and foreign teachers holding postgraduate certifications in education (PGCE), ensuring teaching quality meets international standards. Notably, a ratio of 1 teacher/staff member per 4 students helps maintain a high level of personalized attention in every classroom.
In 2022, Wellspring Saigon became the first school in Vietnam to join UNESCO’s “Happy Schools” community – evidence of its commitment to building a well-rounded educational environment that focuses not only on academic outcomes but also on nurturing students’ mental health and happiness.

The Challenge
Teaching IELTS in an international school - a distinct challenge not every center can solve
IELTS at Wellspring Saigon isn’t run as an ordinary exam-prep course. It’s a subject integrated into the core curriculum, meaning it must both deliver measurable outcomes (students’ actual IELTS scores) and operate smoothly within the school’s large-scale academic management system, with both Vietnamese and foreign teachers involved.
Before Selfomy, the department faced specific and costly problems:
Before Selfomy
- Writing and Speaking graded entirely by hand – teachers spent many hours a week just grading and writing feedback
- Test papers had to be printed, distributed, and collected – costing paper, ink, and physical management effort
- Test results backed up and stored manually – hard to look up individual students’ progress
- Students had no place to practice independently outside of class time
- Foreign teachers struggled with management tools not optimized for a bilingual environment
After implementing Selfomy
- AI grades Writing & Speaking within minutes – teachers only need to review and add in-depth comments
- Tests are 100% online – no printing, no manual backups
- All student data centralized on a dashboard – progress can be looked up anytime
- A 24/7 self-study test bank – students practice independently outside class hours
- A friendly English-language interface – both Vietnamese and foreign teachers can use it right away

Solution & Implementation
Integrating Selfomy into the school-wide IELTS program
Wellspring rolled out Selfomy One across 4 main use cases, covering the entire IELTS learning lifecycle at the school:
Weekly assignments
Teachers assign Writing, Speaking, and Reading tasks through the LMS – students submit online, AI grades and returns results instantly
Periodic assessments
Midterm and final exams run entirely online – teachers don’t need to print tests or manually proctor exams
Automated AI grading
Writing is analyzed by AI against the 4 IELTS criteria, highlighting grammar and vocabulary errors. Speaking is graded on Fluency, Pronunciation, Coherence, and Vocabulary
Self-study test bank
Students access a ready-made IELTS test bank to practice further outside class hours – progress tracked automatically
Progress tracking
Teachers and the school can view each student’s progress in real time – identifying “at-risk” students early
Multilingual for teachers
A friendly interface for both Vietnamese and foreign teachers – no complex training required

Teaching quality: With time saved from manual grading, teachers now have more time to prepare more in-depth teaching content, focusing on the specific weaknesses AI has identified for each student. As a result, the quality of IELTS teaching at the school improved noticeably in the first school year of using Selfomy.
Independent student learning: The 24/7 self-study test bank opened up practice opportunities outside class time that didn’t exist before — students can now take IELTS Reading, Listening, and Speaking practice tests on their own at any time and get results instantly, without waiting for a teacher.

Feedback from the Wellspring Team
Beyond the time savings, Wellspring especially values the AI’s detailed error-analysis capability — rather than just giving an overall score, the system breaks down each specific grammar and vocabulary error in Writing, and each individual criterion in Speaking, helping students clearly understand what they need to improve.
