Describe a place in a village that you visited

So when it comes to this topic, which is about one of the special places in a village that I have paid a visit to, the first thing that just pops up in my head at the moment is the old temple in an ancient village, which is located on top of the mountain. I have known it since I first travelled to Da Lat city. If I am not mistaken, the time when I visited that village is when I went on a trip with my friends at school before sitting for an important exam, which determined which high school I would go to. I guess it was about 2015 or 2016, around that I am not sure what the exact time is because it has been a long time since then.

To begin with, after a busy day in the morning visiting many different attractive destinations, my school then brought me to the village to take a rest before moving on to the next place. When seeing us tired of the morning schedule, they said it was free time for us to do whatever we wanted within the village without going anywhere else. My friends and I just hung around that place to find an ideal area for all to take a nap but then we just heard a story from another group of friends. They said they heard through the grapevine that there is a myth about the old temple that had been built for a long time in that village. It says that if you go there to make a wish for your educational or career journey, it will come true no matter how. And obviously, my mind immediately asked myself whether I should follow what they had said so far. At first, I did not have any tendency to go there, but just I was about to sit for an exam, which is super important to me, and I want to have a flying colour in that exam. As a result, I had a lot of trust in that mysterious story although it might sound a bit fake. 

At first, I still did not trust them at all, but when I heard that many local people also knew that story too, I finally decided to take a risk and follow that “silly” story. My level of hope more and more increased when I saw that there were a lot of local people who had a business for tourists to book a quick tour to that temple. However, according to the story, we have to walk to make it become an effective effort. My friends and I made a decision to walk there all by ourselves. Obviously, it would be more meaningful, wouldn’t it? Due to the fact that the walking distance was about 3 km, we hesitated a bit but still did it. We were really excited when we started our first walk, but after just about 10 minutes, I immediately felt lethargic halfway and it was really hard for me to breathe because I was admittedly a bit weak as well as since the road was also very winding. All my friends experience the same feeling as mine all the road but we still encouraged each other to keep moving forward. Then all the exhausted feelings started to fade away when we finally reached the final destination. We could clearly have a spiritual feeling all around, it was so strange that all I only could do was say nothing. Although I was a bit scared, I still stood in the centre and made my wish. Finally, my wish came true and I actually had a flying colour and went to my favourite school.

Up to now, I still go there whenever I am about to sit an exam. And I think anyone about to have an important exam should go there once to wish. I just wonder whether it could help me in a career way or not because I really like that place. In the future, maybe I will try it to determine whether it can work with my career wish or not.

Living in a city isn’t exactly my favourite thing to do. But, since a city is where I grew up and spent most of my life, I just don’t have much of an option to leave the city and permanently settle in a village. But I love the village, I really do, so I try to get out of city life and travel to a village just I did about a year ago or so.

The village is located about a couple of hundred kilometers away from the town where I live. I remember travelling to this village a couple of times in my childhood as my father had taken me there to visit one of his childhood friends from high school. By the way, this childhood friend of my father, who I passionately call XXX uncle, has always been good to me and treated me like one of his sons.

In fact, I would never forget those childhood days of mine when he would visit our home and brought me all kinds of goodies and gifts for me. One day, when I got an opportunity to meet that dear uncle of mine after so many years, I just didn’t want to let that opportunity pass. So, as soon as I heard from my uncle, I immediately bought a train ticket and decided to use my long holiday to meet with a very favourite person of mine.

Anyway, after arriving that village of my uncle after such a long time, I felt like my childhood time is brought back to me once again as I found the same beautiful and green village. I also liked the fact that the ponds, where I swam once, were still there. Besides, I could still see the same roads on which I walked and ran except, of course, they were wider and paved with pitch. All in all, it was a great experience.

I don’t have a lot of memories traveling, since I am a homebody and prefer to stay put if I can help it. However, a destination really stands out among the rare occasions that I actually go on trips. It is a local market in Sapa, which is a small town in the mountainous area of northern Vietnam. I visited Sapa 2, 3 years ago, I believe, to see the snow that is, you know, quite few and far between in our tropical country. During our stay, we stopped by an outdoor market where locals usually buy an assortment of goods. It was a particularly intriguing and new experience to me. 

The first thing I’d like to mention is that the market was a stark difference compared to what I was used to seeing in the city. Hordes of locals were walking around in their traditional attires, which were incredibly colorful and brightened up the whole atmosphere. Around you were all sorts of products, like from special clothing items to fresh ingredients that could not be found elsewhere. But what really attracted me was the collection of traditional ornaments and handicrafts there. After walking around a few stalls, I decided to buy a scarf with distinct tribal patterns and some local souvenirs for my family, all of which were good bargains. 

All in all, I was glad to visit the market since it offered a chance for me to interact with the very welcoming people in Sapa and immerse myself in an authentic, local environment. For a city girl born and raised like me, the market was a definite eye-opening experience. Besides, I could also support the local communities by buying souvenirs and gifts.  If there’s a chance, I would love to revisit this place.
