So when it comes to this topic, which is about an event that I prepared by myself with some bits of help from other people, the first one that just pops up in my mind at the present is the time that I and my siblings threw a surprise party for my parent’s silver wedding anniversary last month.
In fact, my family has usually gone out for dinner at the restaurant for many years. But luckily, they were all busy with their work this year so they decided not to celebrate. However, I did not want it, so I decided to do it by myself.
At first, I had kinda struggled since I did not have any previous experience. Then I asked my siblings to help me out. There were lots of things to do like preparing food, organising bonding activities, and buying some decorations. And I was in charge of decorations including buying ornaments and creating a romantic ambience. And my brother was in charge of preparing food and drink. Last but not least, activities for my parents were my sister’s responsibility.
My task was kinda easy but there were too many things. I had to move constantly from home to the supermarket and the mall to find suitable ornaments for the party. After an hour and a half of moving constantly, the first line of thought soon disappeared. But luckily, I did everything faster than I had thought so I could have more time to assist my sister to build up the romantic view.
Since I remember that my parents really love chocolate and chocolate was also the first present that my dad had given to my mom. So I decided to tell my brother to make a chocolate cake for them, as he has a knack for baking by the way. But we did not have much time, only about 3 hours to do everything; therefore, the best one that was suitable to do was a cheesecake, which only took us about two hours to finish the cake.
Although there were tons of things to do, we still finished on time. And when my parents got home after a long day working at the company, they were struck by all the things that we had prepared so far. And obviously, they ended up moving into tears, especially my mom, she cried a lot. Also, my dad, the one who hardly ever expressed feelings to everyone, was also moved and burst into tears too. And it was such an amazing experience for me and my brother.
So yeah, it was a blast for family members. My parents would never forget that day because of their offspring's efforts. And for us, as their children, we could be closer to each other, which means we understand more and can live in harmony in the future. Thanks for this topic that reminds me about that wonderful time.
