So when it comes to this topic, which is about the advice I once gave to other people, the first thing randomly that pops up in my mind at the present is when I gave them to my little brother. If I am not mistaken, the time I advised him was a month ago, when he started to learn IELTS speaking skills. I am not sure whether it is exactly a month or not because it has been a long time since then; as a result, I can not remember exactly.
A little bit about him, he was not confident much about my speaking skill since it was the first time he tried, so I decided to give him some tips that I gained during my learning period to help him have a good starting point.
I gave us some words and ask him to pronounce those. At first, he thought it would be a piece of cake since they were all the words he usually every day, like “women, island, or determine”. But when I said he got it all wrong, I was not surprised at all since I had chosen the words that I heard he always pronounced wrong every day, you know, it really ticked me off.
Then I gave him all the tips that I had for him. The most important thing that I remember is that he must use a dictionary and look up some words he does not know to speak them correctly instead of speaking based on the spelling. I actually just like him since I was also the one who do that. I did not want him to follow my silly way so that was the thing I mention to him all the time.
And now, I am kinda proud of his high level of confidence and well-prepared knowledge, I hope that he will have a flying colour in the future.
