Due to the high cost of the necessary equipment, some countries, especially the developing ones, can not afford those. This may end up with lending money from others, which may turn to debt later if that country does not manage carefully. Moreover, some think celebrating the event can slow the development of the nation. Since this kind of festival needs a myriad of the workforce, it means the government needs to recruit more people to help. Consequently, some people may have to stop their current work and be forced to join the labour force, which results in a decrease in the productivity of some other careers. 

On the other hand, I believe that it is beneficial for a country to be the host of a sports tournament. Firstly, this trend could help that country enhance their reputation in the world. By making use of the opportunity, the national authority would invest the amount of budget to improve the facilities and the public image. As a result, the international tourists, who are the sports fanatics, come to that nation and could be impressed by the outstanding investment. Secondly, it would be a good time for the nation to ameliorate its relationship with other countries. By having high-quality services for the global athletes, the host country could leave a strong impression on the locals as well as the governments of other nations. Therefore, there would be an improvement in diplomatic relations, which could lead to cooperation in the future.

In summary, while holding events brings a number of drawbacks for the host country, it is still beneficial in terms of prestige and global relationships. Therefore, I wholeheartedly believe that the pros can outweigh the cons of this issue.
