Recently, some people claim that celebrities who are more famous for fancy looks than their successes will be a positive image for children to follow. But in my perspective, this would have more negative influences on teenagers. This essay will explain some reasons for my view.
On the one hand, some people claim that those fancy images of celebrities can benefit children by creating motivation. By seeing those pictures spreaded on social media or news, the teenagers will desire and wish for the same lives. As a result, the children may exert themselves to work and study harder with a dream to have a fancy and successful life like the celebrities. For example, David Beckham, with his fancy and prosperous look in front of the public, has long been an inspiration for young football players all over the world. He usually appears in the look of wealthy, with his fortune and massive commercial earnings celebrated by the press. These have certainly inspired numerous children to work harder in honing their football skills so that they can be like him one day.
On the other hand, I believe this phenomenon tends to have more negative effects on teenagers. First of all, they are easily overwhelmed by the fancy and glamorous look of celebrities. As a result, instead of taking this as a motivation to work harder, they would often only focus more on the shortcuts to achieve the rich looks. This line of thought could very much lead to them pestering their parents or even stealing and shoplifting to quickly get the look that they want. In some situations, these teenagers could even choose to do other indecent jobs to earn quick money. After all, this kind of celebrity presence in front of the public could be much more detrimental to young adult development.
In summary, celebrity is one of the factors that can motivate children to work hard in life, but it also impacts their personalities. In my opinion, I believe that letting them be exposed to celebrities who are more renowned for their stunning and rich looks than their successes can impact negatively on children’s development.
