Apart from moon cakes and lanterns, the other most visible tradition related to Mid-Autumn festival is the lion dance. On the nights leading up to the holiday, groups of children parade through the streets – some of the children maintain a martial beat on drums, while others control an extravagantly decorated ‘lion’ crafted from molds and paper.

The children approach homes and businesses and ask the owners for their permission to perform. If they agree, the children put on a show that is believed to bring a blessing of luck and fortune. Afterwards the host gives the children lucky money as a sign of gratitude.

Tet is a national and family festival. It is an occasion for every Vietnamese to have a good time while thinking about the last year and the next year. At Tet, spring fairs are organized, streets and public buildings are brightly decorated and almost all shops are crowded with people shopping for Tet. At home, every is tidied, special food is cooked, offerings of food, fresh water, flowers and betel are made on the family altar with burning joss- sticks scenting the air. 3. Christmas

I think Christmas is one of the happiest times of the year. Everyone has a smile on their face, especially children. It’s such an exciting time for kids. They can’t wait to open their presents and play with all of their new games and toys. It’s a nice time for adults too. They can catch up with their families and relax.Traditionally, the mother of the family is busiest at Christmas. She does most of the Christmas shopping and wraps the presents. Of course, she also spends hours cooking Christmas dinner.Let’s not forget the true meaning of Christmas, though. It is not about shopping and Christmas trees and ‘Frosty the Snowman’. It’s all about love for each other and peace around the world. Let’s hope this message stays alive.

4. Halloween

Halloween is celebrated on October 31st. The most common colors of the day are orange and black. Halloween comes from the ancient Celtic festival Samhain. The ancient Celts believed that on October 31st, also known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased is not clear, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. On Halloween, the ancient Celts would place a skeleton by their window to represent the dead. Believing that the head was the most powerful part of the body, containing the spirit and knowledge, the Celts used the "head" of the vegetable to decorate their houses. On this day people often wear strange clothes as characters in horrible novels or movies to frighten others. People usually like to dress as ghosts, skeletons, or witches. Now Halloween is an official holiday in almost all European countries.
