Recently, whether workers should stay in the same company for many years or not remains a controversial phenomenon. Although the benefits of working for the same firms for the whole life are considerable, I still think they are still overshadowed by the advantages of changing working places. This essay will explain some reasons to support my view.
On the one hand, it is believed that it is beneficial for workers to stay in one organisation. The most obvious one is the desired social security that the organisation can offer. Choosing to remain in a job for a long time can be assumed to be highly committed to the company. Along with the contribution over many years, the enterprise can recognise its workers’ efforts. As a result, the employees will be paid a handsome pension, which may help them not to be a burden to the family when they get older. However, this trend may not be a great choice for everyone. Since having the same task every day, people will become bored with what they do. Hence, there is no longer motivation for them to work. Consequently, it may lead to the decline of the productivity in the company, and it may result in the fact that they will be dismissed.
On the other hand, I still believe that pursuing another career is the more optimal way for staff to develop. Firstly, they would find out what their true interests are. When they change between different organisations with various positions, they could have the opportunity to expose to a myriad of new knowledge. Hence, they have a broader aspect of every job, so that they could choose exactly what they want to do after many changes in work. Secondly, the higher remuneration is one of the advantages that the employees gain. After a while of working in a company, they will accumulate for them enough skills and experience in that position. However, the period for income to increase for each company is usually really long, which limits the workers promoted. Thus, moving to the new organisation with lots of skills equipped previously, the staff could easily deal with the higher salary, which is what they are looking forward to.
In summary, there is no doubt that a stable position in a company could bring a lot of benefits for employees. However, in my perspective, they can reap more advantages by having many experiences from different organisations.
