So when it comes to this topic, which is about a time when I had a journey that required me to walk a long distance, the first thing that just popped up in my mind at the moment is when I went hiking with my friends when I was in secondary school. I guess it was around 2015 or 2016, I am not sure what exactly the time was. The reason why I still remember it now is that it was one of the longest walking times that I have ever had. Although there were some tired moments, it was literally a blast to me no matter how. And I am mentioning a trip to Da Lat with my school before we sat for an important exam, which determined which high school I would go to.
To begin with, after a busy day in the morning visiting many different attractive destinations, my school then brought me to the mountain to take a rest before moving on to the next place. When seeing us tired of the morning schedule, they said it was free time for us to do whatever we wanted within the mountainous area. My friends and I just hung around that place to find an ideal area for all to take a nap but then we just heard a story from another group of friends. They said they heard through the grapevine that there is a myth about this mountain. It says that the higher you can climb, the higher score you can get in the upcoming exam you have. And obviously, my mind immediately asked myself whether I should follow what they had said so far. Just because I was about to sit an exam, which is super important to me, I had a lot of trust in that mysterious story although it might be a bit fake.
At first, I still did not trust them at all, but when I heard that many local people also knew that story too, I finally decided to take a risk and follow them. My hope more and more increased when I saw that there were a lot of local people who had a business to rent a bike to ride to the top of the mountain. However, according to the story, we have to walk to make it become an effective effort. My friends and I made a decision to climb the high mountain all by ourselves. Obviously, it would be more meaningful, wouldn’t it? Due to the fact that the journey would be about 3 km, we hesitated a bit but still did it. We were really excited when we started our first walk, but after just about 10 minutes, I immediately felt lethargic halfway and it was really hard for me to breathe because I was admittedly a bit weak as well as since the road was also very winding. All my friends experience the same feeling as mine all the road but we still encouraged each other to keep moving forward. Then all the exhausted feelings started to fade away when we finally reached the top of the mountain. We could clearly have a panoramic view of the whole city from above, it was so spectacular that all I could do was say “wow” constantly. So I could fully enjoy the moment and wish for my score before I went back to my school and keep on the visit. But we had to have the same distance to go down the hill so it took us one more hour but it was still worth it.
So by the way, it was a true story. I literally had a flying colour in the next exam so that I could go to my favourite high school. To be honest, it was such a wonderful blast that I have ever had with my friends. I think that although I am a bit lazy whenever thinking of the long-distance, I definitely still go there whenever I feel worried about my future educational journey. I just wonder whether it could help me in a career way or not because I really like that place.
