In Vietnam, many people go to the cinema once a month and this has become one of the most popular activities in Vietnam. In my opinion, there are 4 main reasons for this.
Firstly, in my opinion, it’s because cinema tickets are cheap in Vietnam. Everyone can afford a ticket, and even the snacks and beverages are cheap too.
Secondly, it’s a social activity. People usually go with their friends or their family. I think people usually go in groups because they can talk and give their own opinion about the film after they watch it.
The third reason is cinemas have advanced technology. They have huge screens, which are good quality. Cinemas also have great sound systems and air conditioning. As a result, watching a movie at a cinema is a better experience than at home.
However, I think cinemas are slowly losing popularity. This is because of subscription services like Netflix. You only need to pay $15 a month to watch plenty of films. Another reason is film piracy. People can illegally download or stream movies without paying. Although the quality isn’t very good. There are lots of advertisements and you have to wait a long time for the films to be published.
All in all, going to the cinema is still popular in Vietnam because the tickets are cheap, it’s a good social activity and the technology is advanced. On the other hand, from my perspective, the cinema will be less popular in the future due to subscription services and piracy.
