Some people say that we do not need printed newspaper anymore. To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

Technology advancement has resulted in a plethora of digital platforms. Therefore, the majority of the masses advise that we do not require daily newspapers today. As a result, in my opinion, an up-to-date broadcast is now available on electronic devices. In the following paragraphs, I will explain my position. There are numerous reasons to support this notion.

There are understandable reasons why we do not need printed newspapers nowadays. The first reason is that online newspapers are more convenient and faster for people who want to update news in the quickest way because of the development of computers and Internet access. As a result, citizens do not have to buy traditional newspapers. Another reason is that the environmental protection trend is increasing strongly. People support stopping deforestation in terms of providing materials for producing printed newspapers. Therefore, people get into the habit of using online newspapers and limit the purchase of traditional newspapers for environmental protection.

On the other hand, I believe that traditional newspapers are still necessary in some cases. Firstly, the information in printed newspapers is carefully and strictly censored. News in online newspapers can be written by anyone, it can include unreliable information that has not been supervised carefully before releasing. As a result, compared to the news in online newspapers, the news in printed newspapers is more believable. In addition, using technological devices to read online newspapers for a long time can have negative effects on people’s health. For example, if we spend several hours reading the news on our mobile phones or computers, this could lead to eyestrain and other diseases for eyes. 

In conclusion, I firmly believe that both sides of the argument have their positive points. However, I am inclined to believe that printed newspapers are not necessary today because online newspapers are more and more popular and using online newspapers can limit paper production in order to protect the environment.
